La Cuisine Provençale

We met Jane in the St Remy market which is one of the biggest and most interesting market that we had been to in the region. As we moved through the market, we discussed the menu based on what was the freshest. Jane knows the vendors and they were eager to provide the best ingredients. In her spacious and beautiful kitchen, we went about chopping and stirring under her direction. All the while, she gave us insights into the cooking methods and culture of the region. Jane is obviously in love with this region and seems delighted to share with her students. A pure delight!

Three American travelers took Jane’s cooking class in Saint Remy, France in March, 2022. The meal was absolutely delicious and a wonderful learning experience. We highly recommend Jane and her classes. Jane broke down all our misconceived ideas that French cooking is hard and takes a long time to prepare! We quickly prepared a delicious meal with Jane’s expert guidance, that was beautiful look at and wonderful to taste. It was without a doubt our favorite meal in the 7 days we stayed in Saint Remy, France. Take her class, you won’t be sorry.

Discovered this place just recently, very warm welcome, beautiful ambiance, a cooking class old school without fuss, products are fresh and delicious , instructions easy to follow. Great tips on how to make your home cooked meals more savory. I learned a lot. If you are in the area definitely give it a try you will have a wonderful time !

I had a wonderful cooking class with Jane this week. She planned a balanced menu and then talked us through everything she did, giving us hints and tips along the way. We were put to work, prepping the veggies, blending artichokes for a purée and making a pastry base for the mushroom tarts. We took advantage of Jane's sunny little outside space to enjoy a pre-lunch aperitif with local rosé wine and delicious anchovy dip on crusty bread. The meal was then enjoyed in Jane's charming kitchen with wine and conversation flowing. Jane showed us how she made a delicate sauce for the poached pears, and she reassured us that all her recipes could be found on her website. An espresso coffee ended the meal, and I have to say I now have a new found appreciation for anchovies, artichokes and Roquefort cheese! Thanks for an inspiring few hours in your kitchen, Jane.

Jane provided an excellent class — beginning at the local markets where we got the day’s ingredients, we had a great experience in learning Provençal cooking techniques and enjoying wonderful food, wine and company. Thanks very much!

Since I had the opportunity to experience 2 very different cooking classes, it was extremely disappointing that this class was so underwhelming both in content and the quality of the dishes prepared. There was a small bit of instruction but the dishes were rendered practically inedible with no balance of flavors in the individual dishes or the menu as a whole.There are many quality choices of cooking classes in the area so I would encourage you to invest your euros and time elsewhere.

I had the pleasure of working with Jane and joining several of her classes in Provence this summer. The classes begin with a tour of the market where you have the opportunity to meet the vendors and listen to Jane tell beautiful stories of the specific cheeses, produce growers and history of the region. After the market, you head back to her beautiful kitchen and learn all of the chef techniques and see various preparations of lamb, duck and fish and of course the favorite Provencal summer recipe of fried goat cheese stuffed zucchini flowers! It was such a treat to meet all of the wonderful and worldly people who take Jane's classes and watch everyone come together through the wonder of cooking and eating. So many people said it was their favorite day they spent in Provence, and I can completely understand why! I can't wait to go back to St Remy and take another cooking class with Jane. The 19 years she has spent in the region shines through in her historical and local knowledge which is an added plus to the delicious food!

We had the pleasure of going to market with Jane, shopping for local ingredients, and then learning to make the components of a delicious three course luncheon! Even though we might have paid a slight fortune for that luncheon at a fancy restaurant, the ingredients were pure and simple - after all, who doesn't have onions and oil and butter, but - Voila! - a delicious and easy munchie! We visited with a small group and enjoyed ourselves. And I learned a thing after two - after decades of cooking!

Jane asked us to join another group class the day before ours was booked and we agreed. It ended up there were 9 of them and 4 of us so it was a very large group and a bit chaotic, at first, but as we all made our way through the market with her energetic and friendly guidance, we felt happy to meet the others and learn about the area and the food! Our menu was amazing and we all participated in the prep, then we students got to go outside on the patio and enjoy the Apero while Jane and her assistant finished the meal. So, we got to have a special time mingling on a beautiful fall day in Provence, then enjoy an expertly prepared meal together with our new friends. It was fabulous! I highly recommend this experience to anyone traveling to St. Remy or nearby.

My wife and brother and I decided to take a cooking class at La Cuisine Provencale. What am amazing experience, Jane was fantastic! Her kitchen is typically French, the food was amazing and the company fantastic. I spent 35 years in the restaurant business and we learned things from Jane that I thought I would only see on the Food network. Jane creates a friendly, non intimidating atmosphere allowing every the opportunity to learn new techniques and the typical French meal, sitting with friends and enjoying a delicious meal in a slow comfortable way. 5 stars all the way, if you're ever in the Provence region, don't miss this opportunity!!!!
