I visited and stood alone except for gardeners from the war graves commission. A very moving experience and a plaque explaining the big picture of D-Day and the ongoing liberation.About 20kms south of Caumont L'Evente from where Operation Bluecoat was launched on 30th July44 . British troups went through Beny Bocage almost to Vire in the first week of August and I assume these operations resulted in this cemetry.I found a wreath to the Welsh Guards which brought a personal touch to my visit and the grave of a 27 year old man from Porth, in the South Wales vallies ,who had been killed on 11th August44.I had intended to visit the musee of St Martin des Besaces just off the A84 but it was only open on weekends

A visit on 6th June for the commemoration ceremony is a must! Thank you to the local people of St Charles de Percy and Montchamp who turned out in their hundreds for the 75th anniversary. Also to those who visit regularly. We will remember them!

Hidden away in the beautiful Normandy countryside, St. Charles de Percy War Cemetery is the southernmost of the Commonwealth war cemeteries in Normandy. Today it is a peaceful spot commemorating more than 900 men lost during the latter stages of the fighting in Normandy between late July and August 1944.

We were so lucky to visit this tranquil place and lay some tributes. There was a group of young men cutting the grass and generally tidying around...its so beautifully kept. Must confess I got very emotional when I thanked them for keeping it so well...and one chap said it was a privilege to keep it so, and they all concurred. They are employed by the CWGC, and said it was their favourite place to tend...they see so much wildlife there, and as its not so large as some other Cemetaries it's not much visited which is such a shame....an so glad I did.
