Chamonix Experience

Did the Haute Route with Chamex and it was an incredible experience end to end. Pre trip communication was prompt and clear and guide Sergio was the absolute best.We are from the states and I’d highly recommend doing your alps trips with Chamex over a foreign based guiding company. Our guide had much better knowledge of the route and area and they were easily able to help us pivot parts of our trip to stay safe due to weather, while still having fun in the mountains.

I just spent the week with Chamonix Experience and couldn't recommend them more. From the first moment we contacted them they assisted us in every way possible to build our dream trip. The guides were always willing to go over and beyond what we needed, with incredible local knowledge and technical skills. They were as ambitious as we were to achieve our goals. We shared so many laughs and stories together. I'll definitely use Chamex again in the future.

I don’t even know where to begin…Everything was fine until I arrived. Our guide told us we would not be doing the trip I had booked due to poor weather. Fine, this is a risk one takes when dealing with nature and extreme environments. Once we were out on the mountain our guide was impatient and rude, practically pulling us up by the rope and only stopping for water/snacks/layer change when we begged him. He never once checked in on us and asked how we were doing. On the descent I suffered from mild heat exhaustion because we were not warned to bring lighter layers for the part of the mountain that was not snowy (found out at the car it was 35 Celsius). Our guide also fought with another woman in our group to the point of leaving us to continue down the mountain on his own, completely out of sight of us, which I thought was very unprofessional. One of our group members twisted his ankle on the descent, but our guide was not there to perform any first aid, and the man was unable to continue his trip.After an awful first two days I was encouraged to rest, and despite trying to wake up for the 6am lift, I was so exhausted I slept in and missed the skills section. The women at the front desk said I would be able to re-book the lift ticket to enjoy the tourist area, but after consulting with the lift people I was told that was not the case, and when I went back to the Chamex office they were conveniently closed for lunch. I did not feel safe enough to continue the alternate trip the company suggested for us, and I expressed this to the office staff and guides, but I was encouraged to continue, saying I would have a great time. I called my travel insurance to make a claim, and the office staff did provide me a letter that my insurance company required.Now two months later, I find out my claim has been denied due to the wording of that letter. I also found out that one of the guides had been up the mountain just days before us, and the first guide was taking his daughter up the day after returning with our group. Seems to me like the weather was just fine, and the company did not plan on taking us up at all. Our second guide confirmed my speculation, saying that the mountain’s name was what sold tours.I am outright furious at the way I have been treated, and truly had the worst experience I ever have had while travelling. I had faith in this company based off of many good reviews, and I am telling my truth so that others will have a balanced view before deciding to book through Chamonix Experience.

Julien was fantastic. He evaluated our level (experienced climbers) and chose a challenging beautiful route. We learned lots of good rope tricks too! Amazing fun day in the mountains! Highly recommend Julien.

I had great experience, very professional and well organised climbing days. Had the most amazing & fun time during my alpine course :) and learnt a tone from the guides! I recommend for all aspiring alpinists.

Traveled to Chamonix from Ireland with a group of 12 climbers to attempt Mont Blanc and Gran Paradiso, I found the Guides at Chamonix Experience to be Ultimate Professionals!They were super friendly, knowledgeble and kept everyone in our group focused and safe whilst taking on this cool challenge.I will definitly return to climb in Chamonix hopefully again soon, and would not hesitate in using Chamonix Experience again!Highly reccomended!

I had an excellent time on my first alpine climb thanks to Chamonix Experience! They were great from start to finish. I reached out via email and appreciated their detailed, thoughtful communication. I felt good about booking with an outfitter that took a personal interest in my request, helped coordinate rental gear, and leveled with me about possible challenges, i.e. weather/conditions. Fortunately, my guide Eric and I got to tackle my top choice - Arete des Cosmiques. The outing was as good as could be - Eric was friendly and communicative, encouraging me through challenging spots and triumphs alike. He is a true expert and shared some helpful nuggets of wisdom along the way. Despite our disparity in skills, he made me feel like a valued teammate as we tackled the route. We finished safe and sound, in high spirits. Thank you so much for a memorable, joyful experience!

I've done two trips with Chamex so far, one being a beginner alpine course and the second being a one day guided climb and I highly recommend them as a company. Prompt communication and assistance were provided both times, along with extremely professional guides who function with safety as their top priority and listen to your concerns. They're also just a super friendly bunch who genuinely want to see you have a great day/week in the mountains. Can't wait to head back to the mountains with them.
