Thrifty Rent a Car

The man at the Thrifty car rental counter at Montpellier airport explained because our flight had landed slightly early, we had to wait well over an hour. I would understand if we were renting the car for three hours, but we’re not, we’re renting it for nine days.Sloppy, rude, slow service and zero initiative. How can a company not have a protocol to keep their customers happy and stop them having to sit around and wait in an empty car rental.The company should have a system where slightly early arrivals can be allowed to get their rental vehicles without ridiculous extra charges, or being made to feel like criminals.Before our booking was due to begin, rather than deal with the paperwork he was at another car rental counter watching rugby.Finally, when we were allowed to return to the counter for service it was constant attempts to upgrade us and add extra charges. Felt the whole time like the Thrifty rental company are just looking to squeeze more cash out of every customer.

Arrived at rental shop 30mins before start time of my reservation (prepaid voucher using KLM's CarTrawler service) and was presented the key from across the counter, car fully ready, only to be told to sit down and wait the 30mins before I would be given the keys.
