Climb the steps up to this fortress! It's worth it. Nice view and experience what it's like to defend through those little windows. What's more - fallow deer to see, beautiful rose garden, and a community children's playground.

Very nice old fortress that you can go into, and climb on top of to enjoy the view. It's too bad the café / restaurant are currently closed!

Super vue sur la ville.beaucoups de marche depuis la vielle ville jusqu'au sommet du chateau.Mais çelà vaut le panorama.Par contre pas d,accès pour handicapé.L,intérieur du chateau est magnifique avec une tourelle pour monter qui est une pente toute imprégnié de galets qui tapissent le sol.Au sommet immense place ou on peut picniquer et ou il y a des toilettes

Une visite médiévale simple et agréable... même avec une poussette (possibilité de ne pas passer d'escaliers... notable pour un château)

Magnifique forteresse surplombant la ville de Schaffhouse. Elle se voulait résistante aux innovations de l'artillerie de l'époque avec sa forme ronde et trapue. Sa plateforme pouvait abriter plusieurs canons, sa tour abritait le logis de l'officier commandant la garnison qui logeait en dessous. L'acces à la plateforme se fait par une rampe à pente douce permettant de monter avec des chevaux tirant les canons. En résumé, une curiosité valant le détour après la visote des chutes du Rhin

Schaffhausen's people are very nice to guide us to this castle, everyone had tried to tell us the best way to reach its top by the least stair step as they could. Although there was not much of a wow architecture to visit, Schaffhausen's view from Munot is worth going up there.

Free castle so you can't complain. Quite a few information boards, you can explore the base and walk up to the roof, where you get a nice scenic view of the surrounding countryside and Schaffhausen. Worth a stop off, the town is quite lovely to wander around as well

Once you made it up there you will have an amazing view over the whole city.There seems to be a small café up there but it was closed on Saturday past 7pm.There were deer in the moat which was a surprising factor.Entrance was free, so I can just recommend it to anyone who enjoys a nice view during sunset.

Really beautyfull place, with a nice view!The fortress doesn't have something inside, but a huge salle with not much light.The difficult part are the stairs to reach the fortress.

The fact that it was built in the 16th century makes the fortress even more impressive. They follow the tradition of ringing the bell at 9pm every day. There are a few other facts you can find while visiting the place. The entrance is free of charge. The view over the city and the river is amazing.

I think this is my second highlight of Schaffhaussen after the Rhine falls. Don't be discouraged to enter the dark castle (don't be surprised by 2 human figurines inside the darkness!), find your way to the spiral pathway and you will enjoy picturesque view of Schaffhaussen from the top, and take your time to identify all the buildings around the area (church, IWC museum, etc).
