Beautiful French Military Cemetery set in a calm and quiet location on a wooded hillside to the north of the village of Vignemont.3108 men lie buried here, many of them casualties from the Battle of Matz in June 1918. The cemetery was expanded shortly after the war when bodies from isolated burials and temporary cemeteries in the vicinity were consolidated here. 955 of the burials are in two communal ossuaries at the rear of the cemetery.Amongst the rows of crosses there are many colonial soldiers with their distinctive headstones. In addition, ten British casualties, two of them unknown, also rest here.A line of fir trees to the left of the cemetery seperates it from the Vignemont German Military Cemetery, created at the same time as the French Cemetery, and today containing the bodies of 5333 men.
