Les Vallaies

Owen family review of Les Vallaies gites - Cygne pool side gite, July 2013, children aged 11, 9 and 7yrs Les Vallaies continues to be a perfect location for our family holidays and we choose to come back year after year. It offers us the opportunity to relax completely and our 3 children can enjoy the pool and other activities on offer. This year our eldest has been able to complete his PADI junior open water qualification. Our 10 yr old enjoyed the diving and the t-shirt painting and our youngest has loved meeting up with old friends and making new ones too. Favourites also include lunch in La Rochelle, the seafood evening at La Grange du Moulin and the boast at St Savinien as well as socialising with bbq's, pizza nights and the occasional coctail ! All in all a special place to spend this important family time.

Fabulous place to stay, by far the best place we have stayed to keep both kids and parents happy and relaxed. Highly recommend the Taste du Terroir and pizza evenings, Chris and Wendy are both very welcoming hosts. Lots of places to visit around the area, you will need a car. Les Vallaies has it's own garden with kids activities, pool, play room and communal dinning table with pizza oven, shared between 5 villas. I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Les VallaiesSummary?4.6Excellent9 reviewsReviewsSearch reviewslucy orton5/5just now on GoogleWe had a truly wonderful holiday at Baleine Cottage, which is part of Les Vallaies, a small but perfectly formed gite complex in a gorgeous part of rural France.We are a family of 5 with, at that time, an inquisitive 8 month old and very energetic and sociable 7 and 4 year olds. It was such a special holiday - we had plenty of space inside our gite, which was perfectly equipped for easy family life.The pool is fantastic, in a peaceful walled sun-trap, and much of the time we had it to ourselves which was such a treat. It has a lovely sloping entrance, brilliant for toddlers, and a jacuzzi/baby pool which my middle daughter spent many happy hours in. Meanwhile my bigger boy became adept at swimming/snorkelling confidently and playing with other children both in the pool and games room. On top of this, Les Vallaies offers the best of both worlds - there is a fantastic outdoor play area for children to make friends (they can't help but do this as everyone is so friendly!) and roam pretty much free, and for the adults to eat, drink, make pizza communally and socialise with other the other adults from the other 4 gites in Les Vallaies.Our kind hosts Wendy and Chris also offer families access to activities at their neighbouring, and slightly larger, La Grange du Moulin gite complex - we made the walk between the two sites several times during our stay which was wonderful - walking through the sunflower fields (but it's only a quick drive too if that suits better). At La Grange we were able to enjoy the teddy bears picnic, fabric painting and tasting events amongst others. In addition, my eldest was able to try a diving lesson with his dad in Les Vallaies pool as a birthday treat, which he loved.We adored our time at this little slice of French paradise, would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a genuinely relaxing holiday with kids, and have already returned once ourselves. Wendy and Chris have created something very special and I know we will be back again!

Absolutely fantastic holiday destination in a lovely part of France. Weve been twice now, plenty to do, lovely setting and great hosts. People come.here year after year and I can see why. Particularly good for youngwe children, with a great pool, playground, activities, etc.

It's perfectly set up for families and we were so lucky to meet other lovely families during our stay - we all sat and ate together most nights. There was no shortage of sights to see as well. We loved the local markets and fresh produce. The wine tastings and discovery evenings were truly an education, Chris is fascinating in his wealth of knowledge. We will return for sure.
