Marie and Christian are delightful hosts, the accommodation in their tastefully restored farm house is very comfortable and the cuisine is excellent. The afternoon excursions are varied, thoughtfully chosen and very interesting.The mornings are spent in a classroom and are devoted almost exclusively to a rapid revision of grammar – useful in itself, but most was familiar to me and, from my perspective, the time could have been better spent on guided conversation, role-playing, discussion of day-to-day topics and so on. Written exercises would also have helped to consolidate the grammar lessons. For the rest of the day students (there were two of us on the course I attended) are part of the household: they are left to join in (or not) the lively conversations round the dinner table. I found this difficult because no obvious efforts were made either to adjust the speed or complexity of language to my level of ability or to seek students’ contributions to the topics being discussed.A pleasant experience but I left feeling that I had failed to make a significant improvement in my ability to converse in French.

I spent 2 weeks at this French immersion school and my ability to speak French and understand spoken French improved immensely. Basically, it was two weeks of complete immersion in French with 3 hours of classroom lessons each weekday and an interesting field trip to the many sights in the surrounding area each afternoon. You stay in the countryside home of Marie and Christian and eat each meal with them. The food ranged from good to excellent and there was usually a bottle of Bordeaux wine on the table if you cared for a glass or two. Basically you are a guest in their home and they treat you well. Marie is the teacher and the Christian is in charge of the afternoon the field trips. They are both very pleasant and easy to talk to, even if your French starts out as not so good. It is laid back and relaxing and, in my opinion, provided the perfect environment for classroom and self-study as well as the inevitable necessity learning that happens in a true French language immersion program. I did not feel a need to have a vehicle as everything I needed was provided. Any funds spent above the tuition cost were because I wanted to buy something extra at the market or on gifts for those back home. On the weekend you have free time to visit La Rochelle, Bordeaux, or any other place you choose. I went to La Rochelle and found it to be a lovely city perfect for a weekend getaway. I can highly recommend this program, especially if you are easygoing and would like to have a relaxing week or two fully immersed with two native French speakers who are patient and skilled at helping you improve your French. It certainly improved my French speaking and comprehension level a great deal.

My experience at Séjour Linguistic has been absolutely wonderful. If you are looking to improve your French by immersion, this is the place to come to do it. Marie and. Christian will provide you with a safe, kind and authentic learning experience which is much broader than just a linguistic experience. You will also learn a lot about French culture and you will be well supported by this genuine , generous and caring couple. You will get to enjoy great food and many specialties of the region. The lessons are fun and Marie is a qualified teacher. The excursions are very interesting and Christian is very knowledgeable and informative- all in French of course. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Accent de France 17 ist eine kleine Sprachschule am Rande von La Vallée. Das Konzept ist Total Immersion" in kleinen Gruppen. Die Schüler (von Jugendlichen bis Senioren) wohnen bei Marie und Christian Larré in der schönen alten "La Peuchollerie" und sind von morgens bis abends auf Französisch in den Tagesablauf eingebunden. Gemeinsame Ausflüge zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten runden das Programm ab. Die "Peuchollerie" liegt am Ende der Straße auf dem Land. Anderweitige Ablenkung ist kaum möglich und war für mich auch nicht erforderlich."
