Monument aux Soldats et Marins

Interesting monument but seems to be suffering from wear and tear of the elements! There's inscription but you hardly legible! It's located in Quai Valin diagonal to the Green Lighthouse of La Rochelle. It's in a beautiful spot addressing the corners very well. There's a playground with a merry-go-round in a park framing this monument. There's also fast-food kiosk next door. It's about five minutes walk to Saint Nicolas Tower. I didn't mind pausing at this monument out of curiosity. It adds interesting dimension to Vieux-Port area.

Sono stato a vedere questo monumento con un collega in occasione di una trasferta di lavoro. La scultura si trova nella zona del vecchio porto vicino a un parco giochi affacciato sul mare. Di fronte è presente un faro che illumina la città di notte. La statua è un omaggio a tutti i soldati e marinai che hanno dato la propria vita per difendere la Francia.

Belle réalisation en hommage aux soldats et marins

Un monument aux morts différents de ceux habituellement érigés.Cependant il mériterait bien d'être rénové au niveau des gravures avec des textes qui deviennent illisibles au fil des ans.Dommage car si on prend le temps de les lire ils sont si bien écrits et si émouvants.Ce n'est pas ça qui ruinerait la commune.
