Statue Jean Guiton

Nothing much to say about this bronze statue of Jean Guiton except its in a beautiful square frame by L'Hôtel de Ville La Rochelle and the Poste building. It's standing on a high stone pedestal and you really have to squint to read the inscriptions! But what I could deduce is that he was the mayor of La Rochelle and died in 1654. I guess it's either admired or abhorred by locals judging from what I observed as people walked past this monument. Interesting but not overly exciting to me.

Je ne connais pas ce monsieur mais il semblerait qu’il était le maire de La Rochelle il y a très longtemps !
