Gite Les Volets Bleus du Segur

We stayed at Le Grange for 6 months in 2022 along with our two dogs. We were looking to live the 'french life' for 6 months and our stay was perfect to do just that. The owners, Philippa and Ashley, could not have been kinder or more helpful, even looking after our dogs if we were away for a night or longer. We found that Le Grange was very well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. It was home from home (but with better weather!) The property is well located. Monestiés with its two restaurants, pizzeria, boulanger and small epicerie is within a 5 minute drive. For other shopping Carmeaux, with its weekly market and supermarkets, was only 15 minutes drive. The surrounding area is agricultural and very quiet which only added to the charm of Les Volets Bleus. We would highly recommend Les Volets Bleus for anyone looking for a temporary base to explore this lovely area.

We stayed in La Bergerie for a year long let and I can’t possibly thank the owners more for their amazing hospitality, all their help, advice and for going well above and beyond what’s expected. We were so very grateful for everything they did for us, and I’m so glad to say we’ve remained close friends. This was the absolute best introduction to France we could have had, a truly memorable and wonderful year, spent in a beautiful and cosy home. We expected to have friends and family to visit but because of lockdowns, they became like family. Thank you so much P&A ✨❤️✨

We have stayed at (and revisited!) Les Volets Bleus. It is a perfect French retreat in the countryside which is both peaceful and picturesque but with plenty to see and do nearby. We have NO hesitation in recommending it to everyone, and particularly families. Holiday heaven - as you can see from the beautiful photographs! We hope to go back very soon.

Extremely rude proprietors who made what was to be a relaxed vacation stay very stressful. They complained about everything and anything and every 3 weeks gave me a bill for 500-545 for electricity! When I called the local energy company it turned out that was the bill for their whole property and my tiny house was a small fraction of the total space.I feel very cheated by this couple and that's sad because the house itself is cute. Except that the heat only worked upstairs so I couldnt really use the downstairs much it wasn't a bad house at all. But attitude matters and I felt the entire time these people were deceitful and rude. The gentleman actually screamed at my elderly guest the last day because we were leaving a bit later than planned! That was my final straw. No one should tell at an elder...not ever an elder.Go elsewhere. There are plenty of better options.

Loved my stay here. Tranquil - and easy access to Albi and Toulouse. Phillipa and Ashley are superb hosts and are around should you need any help with anything - highly recommend.

Stunning property in a stunning region of France!We rented La Bergerie for a month and can say we absolutely fell in love with the house and area.A beautiful, very rustic house in a wonderful garden with a fabulous sized swimming pool.The owners, Phillipa and Ashley, could not do more to make us feel welcome and looked after the garden and swimming pool throughout our stay. The house was spotlessly clean and the owners have thought of everything to ensure our comfort and enjoyment.If you enjoy sunshine, tranquility, excellent walks, cycling, local historical bastide villages, delicious food, amazing local markets.....the list goes on... then we would thoroughly recommend this property.In fact, we love it so much we will be back next year!!

We , an early retired couple plus two dogs, have had a fabulous six month rental of La Grange in 2022. It’s a lovely homely house, as described on the website.It was a great experience all round: the house, pool, location and wonderful owners on site.Ashley and Philippa were charming, friendly ,accommodating and professional throughout. All financial and contractual matters were straightforward and well communicated from start to finish. We arrived as tenants and left as friends.Household repairs were timely, the garden and pool maintained to a high standard. Eggs and seasonal produce were available on request.We arrived in March. During our stay we experienced weather ranging from snow to heatwaves. In the cold months we found the house cosy and easy to heat at modest cost. The covered parking a godsend when it was hot.Les Volets Bleus location more than met our expectations throughout our stay, those of our houseful of visitors over the summer with activities at Cap découvertes, aqua parks, lakes and rivers within a short drive. Bastide towns to visit, vineyards , Apéro concerts ,and Albi for shopping and culture. Toulouse and it’s Rugby Club an hour away.The house is close to Monesties, an attractive village on a river ,with an historic centre. It appears a typically quiet French village out of season but there is a restaurant, epicerie, boulangerie , pharmacie all year round and an active social life if you want it. The Marie has a list of associations ,classes and clubs. In the summer the village has masses going on with fêtes, markets, concerts and more restaurants. Nearby Carmaux, is a town that ihas everything all year round; a weekly market, bars, a choice of supermarkets and a good range of independent shops and services. We shopped there, registered with a vet, had a Drs appointment, bought tyres, got hair cuts and manicures, had French lessons, joined a Gym and played tennis. All our needs in daily life and for fun in the sun were met or exceeded.I have some difficulties following a stroke. Our six months was to test out if a longer term move would be right for us.We enjoyed the house, the pool,,the property, the views, the sunflowerfields, the walks. We valued the access to commercial , leisure and professional infrastructure . We learned much from our time here to inform our future plans.There is a lot more to Les Volets Bleu than meets the eye.

We stayed here for six months whilst searching for our own property in France. A beautiful tranquil setting with a large swimming pool which was regularly cleaned. A lovely quiet location and our two cats were also welcomed. Philippa and Ashley were very helpful and even fed our cats for us when we went on long viewing trips. Although a quiet location it was only 10 minutes away by car to the local village with a few restaurants and bars as well as a small shop. Would definitely recommend.
