Maison Barbès

La réceptionniste était super gentille. Aimable, souriante, rigolote.Le monsieur qui était présent devait être le gérant. Il était très gentil, aimable et drôle !La chambre était très propre à notre arrivée. La literie très confortable. La décoration de l’hôtel est vraiment soignée, très jolie.Nous avons passé un agréable séjour !

4 nuits de désillusion à Maison Barbes.L’hôtel, bien que charmant, au milieu de se quartier déplorable, promettais un séjour agréable. Malheureusement ce ne fut pas le cas. Le séjour débute par un accueil déplorable, sans sourire, ni politesse. Nous persévérons avec notre bonne humeur jusqu’à notre chambre, que l’hôtesse d’accueil n’a même pas pris la peine de nous indiquer. Première mauvaise surprise, la chambre est certes décoré avec goût, mais manque cruellement de rangement, et d’espace pour s’installer confortablement.Ne pensez pas à prendre une bonne douche chaude pour vous détendre de ces désagréments, l’eau change de température sans crier gare, manquant de vous brûler puis de vous congeler. Enfin, ça c’est quand l’eau coule, et ne s’arrête pas simplement au milieu de votre douche, shampooing sur la tête.Nous avons fait remonter l’incident qui est survenus plusieurs fois au cours de notre séjour, on nous a offert 2 verres de vins, mais aucune solution n’a été apporté.Ne pensez pas non plus pouvoir avoir du calme, ou de l’intimité. L’isolation sonore est inexistante, on entend tout ce qu’il se passe, et on vous entend en retour sans besoin de tendre l’oreille.Nous n’avons même pas pu profiter pleinement du bonheur de retrouver son lit bien fait le soir en rentrant en chambre. Le travail était toujours à moitié fait. Un coup c’est le couvre lit qui reste en boule au pied du lit, une autre nos pyjamas sont tout bonnement jeté dans un coin de la chambre. Ça commence à faire beaucoup pour un hôtel qui se revendique 4 étoiles, et qui propose des nuitées à 400€.La cerise sur le gâteau c’est des infrastructures globales qui ne donnent pas envie d’en profiter. Dommage, nous avions prévu tenues de sport et maillot de bain qui sont restés dans la valise. Entre la salle de sport et son odeur nauséabonde, ainsi que le sauna qui ne semble pas être de première fraîcheur. On est resté sur notre faim.En résumé, l’hôtel est propre, mais manque cruellement de personnel compétent, et de services que vous pouvez imaginer retrouver dans un 4 étoiles.

We stayed at this lovely boutique hotel for a couple of days, and I could not fault it! Very cosy and the ambience is great! The rooms were very clean with really nice bathrooms and sophisticated decor.. They were more on the smaller side ,but enough for a couple!I heard a lot of rumours about the area, but I never felt unsafe as such. Maybe you need to be aware of your surroundings but that is the same for every big city all around the world! In fairness, the location is amazing, 1 minute walk from the metro station, and a short walk to Gare du Nord and Sacré Coeur , so what more do you need...Also, once you walk a bit further from the metro station, only a short distance, you will find amazing bars,bistros, restaurants, and small boutique shops.I have stayed a few times in Paris and paid double (if not more) the price for hotels nowhere near as nice as Maison Barbes.For a short stay, I would highly recommend this hotel!

300 eur in October is too much. Tiny rooms, broken toilet buttons. This hotel doesn’t deserve a fourth star just for being renovated (3-5 years old). Last August booked a similar size room in the parallel street 3 times less expensive. Disappointed

0/5. Rude customer service forcing my wife and I to leave the same day we checked in as we did not feel comfortable staying here after our front desk encounter. Do yourself a favor and look at different hotel options.

We stayed as a couple on May 12th.The hotel lobby and reception are decorated well with sumptuous velvet like material on the chairs and well curated books and nicknacks upon the shelves. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and all spoke very good English which helped as my French is certainly not fluent. The self serve breakfast in the lobby was small but tasty, fresh pastries, a lovely little creamy yogurt with a strawberry conserve and some tasty soft cheeses and some other items available, more than enough to get the day started. Coffee was provided by the bar. Rooms were of a petit but suitable size as a base to sleep, not huge but what you would expect from a boutique hotel and equally well furnished. As others have mentioned our view was out onto the building opposite not particularly pretty but completely out of the hotels control.Now for the area, it is very close to Barbès - Rochechouart which is a blessing for travel but also a curse as it is certainly an experience especially around the station, there is a constant presence of people mostly male on street corners, one can only guess at their occupation but at a guess I would say it wasn't legal. Just keep your wits about you when making your way through this melee, bags on the front and valuables preferably in inside coat pockets would be the way to go. We were never hassled as two men but I could imagine it would be uncomfortable for women. I wouldn't walk around near the station at night but that's just my personal preference. The interesting thing is a few minutes walk the other side of the tracks to the south is actually great, there are sheltered parades of antique shops, old book shops and modernist paintings and prints for sale, it has a totally different feel.My thinking is somebody has to be at the vanguard of an areas improvement and Maison Barbès is leading the way. The hotel felt secure for our stay and there was always somebody on the desk, we were able to leave our bags there for the day as our Eurostar was later in the evening. The hotel is very near Gard du Nord, walking distance in fact.I deducted a star for the location as for the aforementioned issues out of the hotels control however it is still very well placed to get into Paris centre and for other attractions.

Nous sommes tombés sous le charme de cet hôtel à taille humaine, où l'on se sent bien dès l'entrée. La déco soignée, la propreté irréprochable, le petit petit-déjeuner savoureux et bien sûr l'amabilité et les bons conseils du personnel nous ont séduits. Nous recommandons vivement ce lieu charmant.

Weird smell in the room and very dark. I stayed in a classic with terrace. Shower was good once I had cleaned the shower head so the water could come out.The service was friendly but not very good. I ask for an iron and an ironing board but could only get the iron with the recommendation to use the bed as the board. It worked but hardly what I'd expect from 4 stars.It's not bad but not worth the money.
