UGOLF : Golf Marseille Borély (Golf de Marseille Hippodrome)

I was on vacation with my girlfriend and decided we would visit this course. We tried calling but no one would pick up. We decided to chance it and go since google said it was open. Turned out to be a waste of money taking the Uber there and back.Upon arrival we were wary when we saw the dilapidated building. We could find no entry into the clubhouse after we walked around the building a few times until a member was nice enough to inform us that the office was located closer to the course, behind locked gates for some reason (he let us in).We tried to rent clubs to practice before deciding if we would play a quick 9 (my girlfriend is a beginner and wanted to decide if she would play after warming up a bit). The rude woman working behind the counter, however, told us that we could not play the course if we were beginners (which I am not). Even after asking if I could play alone and my girlfriend could simply walk along, she said it wasn’t possible if I did not have an official golf handicap card.Now I can understand the desire to keep very slow players off the course but even my girlfriend who is a beginner plays fairly quickly. Furthermore, we are talking about an executive par 28 course with holes ranging between 52-180 yrds (I think ONE hole is 280 but even that is not close to being considered long). We’ve played tons of executive courses in Canada (where we are from) and not a single one has ever asked for a golf card. The staff seems to have delusions of grandeur and perhaps think they are working at Augusta but I assure you after seeing the poor condition of the course and surrounding clubhouse/restaurant that this place is anything but (the course is literally in the middle of a horse track!!!). We’ve encountered nothing but wonderful, polite people throughout our many visits to France, go figure we’d encounter the snooty, condescending attitude many wrongly attribute with the French at this budget, run down course (not budget in price, mind you, as they want you to pay 30 euros to play 9 short holes…laughable). If you insist on having such stupid rules for a course of this calibre, at least have the decency to clearly post it on your website or pick up the phone so people don’t waste their time coming.Oh and if you were wondering if they were busy, they were not. All tee times were open upon checking the website so it’s not like it was super crowded.Save your time and money and go some (any) place else. This appears to be an old boys club but without the quality you’d expect.

Fermeture définitive le 28 août 2023Golf de ville avec une équipe sympa. Vue mer depuis le parcours. Green fee économique.

D'habitude c'est super calme et là en fait les VIP sont là ils arrivent tous en hélico ça surprend

Dépêchez-vous d'en profiter avant la fermeture definitive (août 23)sauf si la mairie revient à la raison et diffère" le jardin potager à août 25..."

J'y ai joué 2 ans,un pur bonheur,golfeurs sympas que de bons souvenirs.Renate amitié à toutes et tous.Dommage la fermeture.

Idéal quand on séjourne à Marseille. Belle vue sur la Méditerranée et les îles au large de Marseille. S'en remettre à Notre Dame de la Garde que l'on voit dans le lointain pour réussir ses swings.

Désolé de la fermeture de ce golf mais la direction nationale d'U golf n'a rien fait de constructif pour continuer. Je les remercie pas, bon vent ailleurs. Triste pour Marseille.

Le practice est top, dommage que les machines qui distribuent les balles ne donnent pas toujours des seaux pleins

Cadre top ! Tarifs très corrects. Christopher y assure notamment un enseignement de qualité avec bienveillance et humour. N'hésitez pas à vous lancer ou à vous perfectionner à ses côtés !
