Chapelle des Carmélites de Dijon

La chapelle des carmélites a une salle avec une coupole en verre qui sert souvent à des expositions.J'y suis allée justement pour l'inauguration d'une exposition sur l'électricité au travers de deux personnalités dijonnaises qui ont beaucoup fait dans ce domaine: Hippolythe Fontaine et Gustave Eiffel, d'où la maquette de la Tour Eiffel que j'ai vu à l'occasion de cette exposition.Le tout organisé par 2 passionnés qui ont créé un musée de l'électricité à St Apollinaire ( tout près de Dijon).

Superbe vestige du couvent des Carmélites qui occupa cet emplacement au XVIIe siècle. Cette belle façade mériterait d'être mieux mise en valeur en aménageant la placette qui se situe devant

I was there on August 10th, 2023, at about 11am, church was closed. The area where the Carmelites lived has been turned into offices. The only original part is the front facing exterior of the church. It was one of the first two Carmels in France founded in 1605, not long after the Discalced Reform by St. Teresa, 1515 - 1582, the other being the Carmel in Paris, they moved from here after the French Revolution 1788 - 1799 to about 13km from the current train station to the now Carmel monastery in Flavignerot where Elizabeth Catez, 1880 - 1906, who became St. Elizabeth of the Trinity entered. St. Elizabeth's relics are now in St. Michaels Church, Dijon, just right of the alter, mass there at 9am weekday. The museum of St. Elizabeth of the Trinity is open in Flavignerot, Carmel, 6:15am - 10pm with weekday mass 11am. Check church timetable as they close for a while during the day. It was 35euro, Uber taxi in August one way from Dijon train station or over 2.30hr to walk it one way. The Cathedral of St. Bénigne in Djon is well worth a visit, an early Christian martry, 270 - 275. It would have been a Benedictine monastery at the time of St. Bernard, who is also from Dijon. Started by 12 monks from Cluny Abbey. There is also a Basilica and convent at the birth place of St. Bernard in Dijon, about 20min taxi from train station, Uber -18euro.
