National Car Rental

Excellent experience despite a few minor challenges: While traveling in France with my family, we rented from National twice; the second trip reserved as a one-way trip from Paris to Lille. Pickup from National Montparnasse with Mathis was very easy ~ and we happily received a larger BMW M series with lots of trunk room. Wonderful vehicle (my first time driving a BMW)One factor that became a concern was the BMW was provided with very little fuel. We had one stop to make in Paris prior to Lille, but finding diesel became a priority. Like our first rental, low fuel added unwanted stress, but we located a BP station near the motorway and filled up for our trip.Our trip to Lille was very easy; the car drove perfectly. The motorway had moderate traffic and we chose to take backroads thru Valenciennes and up thru Belgium for some sightseeing, and only paid one small toll.Once arriving in Lille, it was very near the 7pm closing time of the National drop off location. Despite receiving emailed directions to the parking garage, we had a very difficult time finding the drop off location using the provided instructions. After driving around the Casino and train station several times, we located the garage using Google Map directions to the address: Parking Casino, 513 Avenue Willy Brandt. niveau -4Alert: there is NO signage around the area or nearby. Only driving down the small driveway to the Casino Parking garage do you see a small “Enterprisenational etc” sign on the wall. Once located, driving into the garage and navigating four floors down to the drop off was easy. Again, not much signage but follow “Niveau-1, -2, -3, -4” signs, then look for the car rental signs, podium and staff.Upon drop off, there was only one staffer, but we only waited a short time. We were able to speak basic French and the National attendant was pleasant and spoke some English. Drop off was quick and simple and we departed thru the casino to street level.Overall, the National staff and experience was excellent. I happily recommend them with five stars despite some areas that need improvement (fuel, directions/signs). The process could have been much more difficult for an American family in France with limited French language ability. National has definitely earned our business moving forward.

WARNING: DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!! After receiving the rental car, I didn't notice a low tire warning light on the dash until I got out of the dark, poorly lit car park. When I returned the car, the tires were fine. The week after the reservation, I started receiving threatening letters and a bill for over 135 euros to pay for a new tire. I spoke to the local manager, and their response was just your word again ours, and they had no proof I caused any issue with the tires.

Finalement après avoir réservé sur place quelques jours avant , on nous appelle 20 minutes avant pour nous annoncer que la voiture n'est plus disponible.Vacances annulé merci National Car !
