Excellent bar, had a great band. Very cool theme and the bartender is very personable and speaks excellent English.

Great place to hang out, (especially at happy hour!!) and have a great conversation! If you are a student in politics, history, middle eastern or south asian studies, you'll love having a talk with Taha Siddiqi, the owner, who also manages the bar.He also is a journalist, who received an Albert Londres prize in 2014, a political refugee and a Science Po Paris professor.

Congratulations dear Taha on the book and the bar!The Dissident Club is a fantastic venue where you will inevitably make strong connections, have engaging conversations, and leave with a deep crave for adventure and freedom.Keep an eye out on their instagram/website for their schedule: more than a drinking place, they host incredibly inspiring events weekly. And of course, don't miss out on Taha Siddiqi's story, told through Hubert Maury's drawings in their joint storybook that just came out!Congratulations again, and see you soon ✊

The Dissident Club

Was looking for great jazz at a place not frequented by tourists (although I was one). Dissident Club really hit the spot. Great music (the night we went it was Trio de Jazz, great guitar jazz trio in the mode of Wes Montgomery), and nicely stocked bar with some great beers and very reasonable prices. Great atmosphere, owner/staff are extremely friendly. Highly, highly recommend.

It was one of the most interesting bar experience I have ever had in my life, able to talk to strangers about absolutely anything. Taha is also a great host, he really made sure everyone had a great time. This is more than just a bar, truly is a club, and I recommend everyone visiting Paris must come and visit this place!

The best bar if you are an international living in Paris. The food and drinks are great and the environment is even better. There are always things going on like open mics and poetry circles where you can meet amazing people.

If you're an English speaker looking to have an interesting conversation in a place that feels homey, despite being in the heart of hipster 9eme arrondissement, check out the DC, and meet his owner, Taha who's also a journalist and activist from Pakistan. He was actually kindnaped a few years ago by the Pakistani secret service and had to go into exile to protect himself and his family. At the bar he also serves a nice planche mixte" with cheese and charcuterie
