Le Départ Saint-Michel
Loved the atmosphere in this restaurant. We sat by the window which was nice so we could see outside and people watch. The food was really pleasant. I recommend the steak tartare very much, it is delicious, but a big portion. My friends steak was a little tough, Probablly due to the cut of steak, but still hoped it wouldn’t have been so tough. However this was the only downfall, waiter was great and very attentive and wine delicious as always. Would definitely make a second visit!

August update:My wife is addicted to this Brasserie. Location is amazing. Waiters are professional and welcoming and very nice. The food is consistently good and home made. I love their bavette (ask bleu/blue to have a good rare). The poulet supreme with curry is excellent. Croque madame campagnard is also one of our regular order.January:After our first positive experience eating there, we came back several times during our trip as it became our primary 'brasserie'. It is nicely located in Quartier St Michel. The food is freshly prepared and well done. I tried the tartiflette(plat du jour) which is composed of sliced potato, cream, cheese and bacon, broiled in oven to give a crispy layer. We also got the croque madame campagnard and the bavette (flank steack). Service was excellent, courteous and super fast. Price is good for such a location.

Le Départ Saint-Michel is a decent spot for a quick breakfast or brunch. Obviously since it's located in a high touristic spot, prices are going to be extremely high and everything will be overpriced for the tiny portions you get. Altogether, it's a decent spot for a traditional French breakfast, croissants are delicious, but the baguette I had was a little stale. Their orange juice is freshly squeezed and incredible.

Toasts and fries are overcooked. This restaurant has got a nice view of Saint Michel. However, avoid this restaurant for a good Paris experience. Not what I expected.

I didn't think there was a good service business that attempted to get as many one star reviews as possible.But, I have found it. From watching a waiter simply kick receipt paper along the floor to out in the street, to the total lack of any type of formal discussion or politeness.I guess business flows in due to the large number of tourists, so being nice isn't a requirement.I feel for any service staff here that are doing a good job as they will be tarnished by those I dealt with today.Avoid, walk a few doors down.

Great location for people watching. I had escargot and onion soup, which was good. Customer service is not their strength, as others have said, waiters not your most friendly people. Location and food make up for it.

I was so glad to have found this place at 0100!!! After walking along the Seine, I was quite hungry.We sat outside, and a waiter appeared within moments. He suggested several items, and I got a quiche, along with delicious espresso. My friends continued drinking and had a charcuterie board!Also, pricing was very reasonable. I definitely recommend this place!

Stopped by to get some ice cream on the way from Notre Dame to Orsay. We had a very friendly waiter and decide to sit outside to enjoy the view. Everything was lovely until a couple of chain-smokers sat next to us and ruined the experience. It was a shame because the ice cream was delicious. We started to get nauseous and had to leave. Would go back and recommend the place, but make sure to sit inside to avoid the cigarette smoke.

This is a convenient place to sit and people-watch at a busy intersection, during the day. Friendly and fast service, tasty light meals. Lost a star because it's quite overpriced (perhaps not unexpectedly given the location).

Nous avons très bien mangé,Cependant :On a l’impression que notre présence dérange certains serveurs !La table est enlevée dès qu’une personne a fini, alors que les autres nonPas de proposition de dessert ou caféSéparation de la note gênantePeu de politesse !Je ne reviendrai pas, c’est dommage le gérant étant très accueillant et agréable
