BVJ Louvre - Auberge de Jeunesse
Pretty old hostel overall but you get what you pay for. It's a great (and safe) location for sure - perfect if you want to go to the Lourve and surrounding areas. If you want an extremely no frills place to spend the night, it's not bad. But I personally will opt to stay further for a more comfortable night.

You have to pay 2 euro per day for wifi that only works in the lobby. I stayed in a 10 bed and there was one key for everyone in the room. If you were the last one to leave you were supposed yo give the key to the desk. If everyone is not in the room it is unlocked so there is no security. Also the door handles were broken. It was not clean. None of the outlets in my room worked. I suppose the location was okay and the beds were fine but I would say it is not worth it.

The location is fantastic. Close to the Louvre, the Seine and shops with a supermarket just around the corner.Unfortunately this is a really poorly maintained hostel with some of the worst facilities I have seen. The showers are disgusting. Poorly lit and full of mould and grime.Tap and sink are in each room but I'm not sure if they are cleaned regularly and there is no soap.My sheets had holes in them and skin crusts on them when I first made my bed and I found out the blankets they provide aren't even washed, just folded and left on the bed.Noise levels are high as well, mainly from noise inside the hostel. There are no security lockers in the rooms and is only one key per room that has to be shared by it's occupants. Last person out locks the door, basically. No kitchen or WiFi available to guests unless you pay for the WiFi, and only in the lobby.Honestly, this hostel needs a major overhaul of its facilities. Right now it's just a place inviting you to get sick on holiday...

You're in a youth hostel. They make that clear in their description. It's not fancy, but the people are very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a two person room and no one else booked the other bed the 3 nights I was there. The free breakfast was basic, yet abundant. So close to most major attractions and to several metro stations. Clean, mostly quiet (though I went in the off-season) and a perfect place to lay your head for the night. I'll be back! Do not bring anything very valuable - there are only a few lockers that work. Most were out of order. Be prepared to carry it with you if you don't want to leave it in the room or dorm.

This is a solid hostel. I stayed in a women's dorm my roomies where kind, and the beds where comfortable enough to get sleep. This area is really convent and you can't beat the price! They also offer breakfast in the mornings included with your stay. I would stay here again, the only negatives are that is does get noisy in the area because of its location, and the bathrooms are hit or miss in this place. Over all though I had a good experience.

Good hostel with an excellent location! Rooms were decent and spacious, facilities are basic - push shower, no lockers, and scare number of power outlets in the room. Had to charge my devices in the common area (which is lovely!). Breakfast was included and they offered an open room where you could leave luggage. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Overall, the location, value and friendly staff make this a great choice for a stay in Paris.

Staying in this hostel was a horrific experience. The dirtiest place I've ever been in my life, unsafe and disgusting. We couldn't close the windows or leave the door open because of the terrible smell that came from the toilets, one of that was completelly full of trash and human waste. Beds were full of bed bugs, I got hundreds of bites. Cleaning ladies didn't actually clean at all! I've informed the staff more than once, about everything I'm reporting here, and they were unfirendly and rude. I was having a severe allergic reaction (never been allergic to anything before) beacuse of the bed bugs bites and they didn't help in any way, the consequences of which led to weeks of medication and cortisone shots, numerous hospital checks and a permanent allergy to NSAID.

This isn't so much a review as a public warning. Avoid this place and pray you don't get room 54 if you're unlucky enough to stay here. The place is a cesspool of filth, and the smell of damp in the room almost made me throw up after coming from a day in the fresh city air. I wouldn't be surprised to learn I have some form of lung disease in the coming weeks, after spending 2 nights sleeping here. There was no soap with the sinks in the room and only a single plug socket for the entire room. The showers didn't drain properly so you end up in a petri dish of your own dirty water, combined with the existing grime in the showers. The toilet lacked a seat so you're forced to hover, which was probably more sanitary than if there was a seat given the state of the rest of this place. The beds are something out of a nightmare, they will literally eat you alive. The sheets are covered in blood and other stains from previous users because they clearly aren't washed correctly. When I actually lay in the bed I could feel my skin crawling with bed bugs, and spotted a fair few of the bugs with my own eyes. It's come as no surprise that I'm now covered in hundreds of little spots from where I've been bitten...This place should absolutely be avoided, and ideally shut down for being a health hazard. Avoid.

Well it may have taken me 38 years to write a review on this place but better late than never. It was called the Auberge de Jeunesse in December of 1985. I met some of the most amazing people at this place. There was a boulangerie across the road now gone where we bought bread and cheese and wine. Rules were soft back then so a group of 8 or so of us newly formed friends had a great time. The place was okay but what do you expect for such a low price per might and access to everything nearby. Im amazed to learn it's still operating but it was really busy back then so guess not so surprised. I was 22 back then. Now 60. Make the most of your life, stay at places like this which you can't always find.. without complaining.

This is one of the best hostels I stayed at in Europe. Sure it is not fancy but that is clearly stated on the listing and the email confirmation. There is no elevator but that was fine with me. I thought it was a great value for the money. It's a very charming old building and the room I stayed in was very cozy. Clean sheets and towels as you need them and the breakfast was excellent! I have not had a better breakfast in any of the hostels I stayed in across Europe. The location is great too!
