Monument aux morts de Strasbourg

Het herdenkt de oorlogen van 1914-1918, 1939-1945, 1945-1954 en 1952-1962 met de inscriptie, aan onze doden. En toont een moeder die haar twee stervende zoons vasthoudt, de één was een Duitse soldaat en de ander een Franse. Vechtend tegen elkaar op het zelfde slagveld tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Hiermee symboliseert het de tragedie van de Elzas, waar familie strijdend tegenover elkaar kon komen te staan. Gelegen in het hart van een fraai park en omringd door statige gebouwen.

The history behind it is super interesting:It was erected in 1936 in memory of the city's children killed in the First World War, which took place from 1914 to 1918. It was the first armed conflict that involved so many countries around the world. The human losses amounted to more than eight million dead and six million disabled.Before this statue, there were two other stuff, a destroyed German plane from the war, captured by the French, and before it there was the German Keizer on a horse, which was destroyed by the French.The current statue is supposed to represent the reunion between the French and the German after the Wars.
