I purchased the Collision Damage Waiver insurance at the pickup location. Sadly, it was worthless and I was up-charged $385 for a minor paint mar (not a scratch, but a rub mark) when I returned the vehicle. The insurance was a ripoff and the mar came with the car.

We went to the Budget desk in Nice terminal one and queued for half an hour to be told to catch the tram to the Budget desk in terminal two. On arrival at that Budget desk, which was several hours after our rental agreement started, we were told there were no cars available. Please could we have lunch and come back in a couple hours. Before we flew, I registered online for Budget Quick Pass, what was the point of that?

Rented a car for two weeks, and was worried about the reviews here. Wanted to share that everything went very smoothly. Car was clean and in good condition. Received the car without waiting at all. Return was super simple. Veronique who worked the desk at the airport was very helpful and friendly. Did not receive any hidden charges or damage claims.

The worst experience I've ever had at a counter in any shop, service place or car rental. The week before our arrival, I got two phone calls from AVIS Nice asking me if I wanted to pre-register with AVIS Quickpass. As I didn't have my driver’s license on me at the time, I asked if I could register online. The person at the other end said this was ok to do and that a link would be sent to me via email. I still got 3 text messages on my mobile phone telling me the same thing. I registered for Quickpass online via the link I got on email. Just like I did last year when renting a car at Montpellier Airport (no phone calls, no text messages, done through email and no hassle).Upon arrival in Nice, there was about 6-7 people in front of me in the Quickpass queue and around 15-20 people in the regular queue. It didn't take long before the guy in front of me explained that they had been waiting for quite some time already and said the service was slow. AVIS had 1 person serving the Quickpass queue and 5 people serving the regular queue. At this point it seemed a bit odd to me why AVIS only used 1 person to prioritize serving people who had been asked to spend time pre-registering, and 5 people helping people in the regular queue. Wasn't this why I had spent time at home? To get a quick pass? Pre-registering didn't seem to have much effect on the time it took for people to get their car. After waiting a long time for the first family to get served, I started to check how long it was taking. I wouldn't say 20-25 minutes getting a car pre-registered is a quick pass. Then two couples in front of me took and action and got their partners to stand in the regular queue (my has a bad foot, so I didn't want her to stand that long). The regular queue was twice a quick and the two couples in front of me got served at the regular desk. After I had been waiting 30 minutes for the next person in the Quickpass queue to be served and the AVIS lady at the counter was nowhere to see, I went over in the regular queue to see if I also could be served quicker there. There was only 3 people in the regular queue now and only 3 AVIS persons serving. While standing in the regular queue, AVIS finally started to serve more of the people in the Quickpass queue. Progress, I thought! But, when finally it was my turn and the AVIS lady asked if I had Quickpass or not, both she and another of her colleagues started to shout at me, telling me off for being in the wrong queue! I pointed out that they had already served other Quickpass customers, that there currently was nobody at the Qickpass counter and that the customer at that desk had been waiting for long past 30 minutes. So then the lady reluctantly agreed to serve me, but at the same time saying past me in French how stupid it was of me to not stay in the Quickpass queue (guessing I didn't understand French). At that point I told her that this system AVIS was providing me as a customer is quite useless. Her reaction was to refuse to help me and told me rudely to return to the Quickpass queue. She also refused to get the manager when I asked (which I expect AVIS would have in such a place?). To not cause more havoc, I went back to the Quickpass queue, waiting for another 20 minutes. When I finally got served, it took 13 minutes to get served and we were on our way. The lady in the Quickpass queue was very kind, no problem there. However, when we got to the car and had a look around in it, the car was filthy inside. Nothing had been cleaned! There was dust sand med and marks on all the seats, and garbage in the sides and pockets in the backseat. At that point we had had enough to go back and complain. We were already 2 hours behind schedule and drove off. I have taken pictures of the car. The person at the drop-off at Montpellier Airport was really shocked when I showed the pictures. They, nor me have ever seen a car handed over in such conditions! Bottom line, Sorry, I can't recommend your service to anyone. I can only warn them. Have had no trouble with AVIS before and hope this is isolated to Nice T2.

Got full coverage, paid for everything they asked for. They gave me a small paper with a QR code and told me my car is upstairs in M… they keys are inside and we send you the contract later. Everything is good so we left.When they send me the contract I was already in Monaco. Wrong contract with the wrong info. I tried calling to fix this issue on this location but no one answered. “Ok everything is good” it was an inside mistake.Then I go to Portofino Italy and then while I am trying to park, I left the tires sideways. I look outside the car to see how I parked and noticed one tire is worn on the inside.It caught my attention so I looked at the other tire.The other tires was worn on the inside too.I only drove this car 280 kmWhat this means:they do not maintain their cars and do not inspect their tires.This car has never been aligned.Good thing I found out before it was too late and called Avis Emergency.It was just a matter of kms for it to explodeIf one of this tires breaks on me while I am driving on the highway with such a small car; it can make the car roll over and kill us.This is unacceptable.I contacted Avis emergency to take the car and fix it. They took it and told me that they were going to give me another car.2nd day, I am stuck in a hotel, waiting for them to give me another car.No one calls, this place doesn’t answer the phone, car is paid, I do not have my contract with the right info, a complete s*** show…

Un service vraiment au top ! Au préalable, j'ai voulu faire appel à une autre célèbre agence de location concurrentes à l'aéroport de Nice, mais leur incompétence affligeante m'a fait fuir. Aussi, quel bonheur d'être arrivée chez AVIS ! J'ai été reçu par Véronique qui a été d'une gentillesse et d'un conseil absolument parfaits. Le contrat était clair, sans surprises et dans le respect de ma demande. J'y reviendrai les yeux fermés !

It takes me about 1.5 hour to get my car, just one straff is working here for the none AVIS PREFERRED and Quick Pass customer. About20 people are waiting Lmao. I’m sure AVIS want you pay more to get the car faster. If you don’t want waste your life here PLEASE come here 2 hours earlier, or just never use AVIS service. Such a bad experience :)

Do not use if travelling with young children - the options for baby seats were horrific and unsafe. Not what I would expect from a reputable provider in Europe.No isofix options available for our 8 month old baby and the seats that would allow for a baby were incredibly light and flimsy. Truly awful start to the holiday when you just want to ensure that you're little ones are safe.All of the child seats (we also needed a booster for a 5 year old) were dirty and looked like they'd never been cleaned.If you are not travelling with kids then the pick up and drop for Avis Preferred was very fast and smooth.

The agent at the office when picking up the car was nice, there was no wait and he gave us some recommendations in the area.HOWEVER. When we picked up the car we noticed some obvious scratches on the back that were not in the agreement. We took photos of the damage and then thought nothing of it. After returning the car we were charged 400 euros for scratches on the front bumper that we were not responsible for. Unfortunately we had not taken photos of these and Avis refuses to talk to us about it and responded rudely in emails. Very disappointed in the service provided, as others have said, this is a total scam. I would have rather paid more at a different agency. If you are renting for Avis make sure to take photos of the entire car before you leave the lot.
