LSF Montpellier | French Language School

I attended three different French language schools in the summer of 2015 and I highly recommend LSF in Montpellier without reservations. The teachers are excellent and creative. I never felt bored in class because my teachers had so many different innovative ways to teach the grammar and other concepts. They made learning fun. Additionally, they have a lot of high level technology, such as interactive smart boards. They used very few worksheets, but rather did creative fun activities to help students speak and write better. They had high goals with specific objectives each day and week. We wrote every day on interesting topics and the teacher corrected our written work individually. The teachers were kind and encouraging about correcting our spoken language. The entire staff at LSF is kind and welcoming and helpful. You get the impression they are glad the students are there and want to help them not just with school issues, but in helping them enjoy the whole experience in France. The host families are chosen with care and all of my friends who stayed with families had very positive experiences. Montpellier is a darling town with beautiful squares, a large pedestrian zone, and lots to do. The school is in the center of the historic downtown, so right outside the building there were places to eat, lunch or get a coffee with a friend. I loved being with students from all over the world. I felt like my French skills improved tremendously in this excellent program in a beautiful setting.

I was extremely satisfied with LSF in Montpellier. I have done intensive language study before in Vienna, Mexico, and Germany, and I was an English teacher to adults in Frankfurt and Madrid for 2 years. So I think I have a pretty good idea of what makes a good language program -- and how hard it can be to administer. For these reasons, I'm especially impressed by LSF.I did quite a bit of research to find the right school in Montpellier. LSF had the highest online ratings, which was a good start. The staff was very helpful in the registration process (Thank you, Karen and Yenifer). I think they did a great job of assessing which level I should be at (which is very important!) And when I had a health issue, and could not start the in-person class, they made available to me their online e-learning platform, which was fun, interesting, academically rigorous, and truly helped me learn a lot of French extremely quickly. The platform addressed grammar, vocabulary, but also listening and writing exercises which were reviewed by one of their excellent professors (Professeur Azadée). It was a fun, relevant way to familiarize myself with modern day French culture.My in-person class with Professeur Mégane was outstanding, too. She did a tremendous job of making the material enjoyable, while we also learned the important grammar and vocabulary through a lot of discussion, as well as reading and writing exercises. Even though people in the class ranged in age from 15 to 58 (me!), we were all able to enjoy each other's unique perspectives and experiences -- all en français."The school's building is beautiful

When I decided to come to France to study French, I spent a lot of time researching the possibilities. I found several schools and locations, so I I signed up for a couples weeks at each school. I spent first four weeks were at LSF in Montpellier and I loved it. I spent two weeks at another school and it did not compare, so I canceled my plans at other schools and I have been at LSF for and additional three months. The student population is diverse in age, French levels and cultural backgrounds which brings so much fun to the classroom experience and after school activities. I have enjoyed the variety of class options and the teachers are creative and skilled. The teachers also incorporate cultural learnings into our daily French lessons such as popular French music, history, art, humor, and entertainment. The school administration is friendly, responsive and approachable. Montpellier is a beautiful and caring community that is open to French learners. I have been here prior to and through the COVID-19 Confinement and my classes easily moved to on-line. I have truly enjoyed my on-line classes in the morning and the afternoon on-line LSF learning opportunities. Outside of class, there are LSF options to practice French in on-line gatherings such as Tea on Mondays, Appertifs on Fridays, Culture Quizzes on Thursdays, and Confinement Information Sessions on Wednesdays. My on-line LSF French class has remained challenging, fun and engaging. My classmates attend from outside of France and from within the Montpellier community and they have become wonderful, supportive friends. I have also opted for on-line private tutoring and I will continue to do so. Despite the Confinement, I have managed to stay quite busy, productive and safely happy. I am grateful for the LSF community!

My daughter Luna started French A1 level at LSF Montpellier in June 2022 in an amazing experience that we both shared in such a beautiful city. She could grab great language skills offered with utmost proficiency and in a very healthy and supportive environment. I was in LSF for a week this year and loved it so much that I have just booked a place for 2 weeks next year. The school is well organised and the teaching is very good. I would really like to mention Eugenie who has been sooooo helpful organising my requests for my stay next year.

I studied with LSF for 1 month (march 2023) and had an incredible time!!! I took the intensif stream and my teachers were extremely enthusiastic, caring, and funny. The school and classes had really fun activities as well, the content was always very interesting and the size of the classes were just right in my opinion. They have different class locations in Montpellier (all within 5-10 min walking distance from each other) which I personally enjoyed bc it was a nice change of scenery every week. The city itself is beautiful - large enough to always find something to do but small enough to find your own favourite spots and establish a routine where it slowly starts feeling like “home.”If you decide to take any language course, I HIGHLY recommend staying with a host family. I was really lucky with mine - they cooked traditional french meals and we had conversations about politics, food, and the differences between our cultures even with the little french I had to begin with. They also give me some tips about where to go in the city which were extremely helpful. Since coming back home, I’ve tried implementing some french meals and habits into my daily routine (that I thought were really cool) which I wouldn’t have learned if I had not stayed with a host family.After 1 month my french and confidence in speaking french improved tremendously (A1 to A2) and after returning home, I tried to continue my french learning by watching shows, listening to podcasts etc., even deciding to enroll in another language school in my city where I took a level assessment through a phone call and learned that I’m now at B1! Seriously one of the best experiences of my life and I highly recommend :) Thank you LSF!!

I studied in LSF for ten weeks and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The teachers were excellent and engaging. I spent the most time in Ann and Hinda's classes and loved them both so much. The school organizes a lot of activities and the staff is always helpful and friendly. You also get to meet a lot of interesting people of all ages with different backgrounds from all over the world, which is super cool. Montpellier is also very lively with a lot going on, so it's hard to get bored. By the end of my stay my French improved a lot and I gained a lot of confidence. I look forward to going back again when my schedule and budget permit.
