Villa Camblanes
We have just completed a week at this wonderful gite. It is located in the heart of the village (Camblanes), just meters from a significant Roman ruin and and facing the town’s historic church. Off street parking may be available, but we found it perfectly safe to park at the curb just outside the electric gate. All basic amenities - Super-U groceries, La Poste, pharmacy, tobacconist, boulangerie, La Marie - are within two blocks of the gate, and access to the historic wine region or the city of Bordeaux are just minutes away! The host is low-key and friendly. The dog, Polka is a sweetheart who just wants to play. A few notes to consider: the church bel rings the full hour (twice) and half hour all day and night. And still rings the traditional, extended “Angelis” sequence three times each day. We loved it! The pool, like most, is not heated. (No problem for us!) And the warm climate means there will be some bugs. We burned citronella on the veranda in the evening and ushered a few enormous hobo spiders back out to the garden during our stay. That said, we delighted in the luxury of excellent air conditioning, the perfect shower setup with heated towel rack, the handy in-kitchen laundry with fresh-air drying rack ready for sunny or foul weather, the no-worries macerator toilet, and the secure electric shutters for night. Well done! We would gladly come again in a wink!
