Wine Trotters, private wine tours Loire Valley

We had a really great time with Gael on a full day tour in early June 2023. Unexpectedly had an extra day added to our trip, so we reached out and in under a week, Gael was able to create an itinerary of really fantastic stops in the Vouvray region. 3 very different vineyards, but all with excellent wines and experiences/learning opportunities. The 2nd stop even included a picnic lunch with local food specialties. Gael was friendly, funny, and added special touches like a stop to view a chateau and the main square in Tours once he noticed that I am a photographer. He then went above & beyond and organized having wines we purchase shipped home to us. Highly personalized, bespoke experience, without a doubt!

What a fabulous tour!! After asking us about our interests, Gaël planned two days perfectly tailored to our tastes and needs. He arranged for us to have private tours and tastings with experts. We learned so much. Because we could not drink wine all day, we visited a couple of castles as well. He is a gracious and kind host, and was eager to share his knowledge and experience with us. The best!

To our surprise, we tasted wine with Gaël in 2018 near Beaune. Small world! This time, Gaël shared his expertise in the Loire valley. What a treat! Gaël is a fantastic wine guide and touring host. He's an educator on a variety of topics and not all about wine. We learned a lot about the Loire terroir, grape varietals and several top wineries. Did we do any tasting? Bien sûr!

We spent a terrific day with Gaël from Wine Trotters learning about the people, history and especially wines of the Loire. It was a pleasure to meet real wine makers at their vineyards and taste wines with them - much nicer than typical wine tours at tasting rooms with people more interested in drinking wine than learning about it. Gaël was exceptional, like a patient friend who delights in showing others the treasures of where he lives.

Gael was a phenomenal tour guide, curating the perfect day for us around our interests. It was so nice to be out with a true expert, whose personal passion for wine and viticulture was apparent. Highly recommend!

We are from Southern California and went to the Loire Valley to relax in the countryside and to discover and learn more about old world wine. Gael truly delivered! He was incredibly knowledgeable - not only about the region - but wine making from all over the world. He was warm, professional, and set up the perfect private tour of three distinct wineries complete with a charming picnic lunch. My husband, 5-year old daughter and myself had the most wonderful two days of tours with Gael. With just minimal guidance from us, he put together a perfect itinerary balancing vineyard tours and castle visits that kept us all (5-year old included) extremely engaged. Every detail was so well thought out, from visiting a local winemaker that provided our daughter with charcuterie and Malbec grape juice so she wouldn't feel left out, to a lovely castle-side picnic complete with princess dress-up clothes. Gael did a masterful job of showing us the best of the Loire Valley in a way that appealed to both adults and children -- not an easy request! We can't recommend Wine Trotters enough and would book another tour in a heartbeat.

We HIGHLY recommend Wine Trotters. My husband and I had the pleasure of touring the Amboise region privately with Gael last week. As we corresponded in advance, he inquired about our wine preferences, provided several options and then curated the perfect day for us. We tasted amazing wines and met winemakers who graciously welcomed us to their homes, cellars and vineyards. Gael has a profound knowledge of wine globally and clearly was held in high regard by all the winemakers to whom he introduced us. Gael’s English is perfect (our French is not) and he was incredibly responsive as we made the arrangements. We learned a lot from Gael and the other hosts and left feeling like we’d made new friends. It was truly one of the best days of our lives.
