Lovely quiet site in the French countryside with equally lovely owners ( Christine and Peter). There are 6 huge pitches with electric. Rustic shower block and toilets are functional and spacious. There is a selection of walking routes, books and games to borrow. We look forward as always to returning.

This an absolute “Gem” of a place to stay. Peter & Christine are charming hosts, and you won’t be disappointed if you love peace and quiet. We have been coming here for 14 years and use it as a place to thoroughly unwind. The area offers so much and if you like walking you will be spoilt for choice. Nearby is Vouvant a medieval town and Mervent with its reservoir, barrage and Forest giving miles of walking trails. If you just like to relax with a good book this is the place to come.

Second time we have stayed here at La Violliere a very special campsite with large grassy pitches with wonderful views. The owners Peter and Christine are very friendly and helpful. This is a rare find and the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

A lovely small campsite. Just basic facilities but very clean. Nice warm showers and hot water for washing up. Lots of space. Peter and Christine very friendly and helpful, especially when our car wouldn't start! Will definitely be back when in the area. The toad visited us when we were packing up!

Peter & Christine gave us a wonderful return welcome to their fabulous campsite. We had a great time there meeting lovely campers from various walks of life. The campsite is tranquil and peaceful but close enough to shopping and restaurants. Will defiantly return next year.

I find the previous review slightly unfair because it only mentions the Campsite. We have stayed 3 years at the Gite that Peter and Christine own which is along side the site . We are a family of 4 and our stays have always been a pleasure and the facilities have never been a problem, although the Internet connection can sometimes be a pain and there is only French TV . But that said , our time was mostly spent visiting the many lovely Villages and Forests all around the area and the Coast which is only around 1 hour away. Pete and Christine were extremely helpful and nothing ever seemed to much for them. Therefore I would have given the Gite 5 stars if it wasn't for the Internet and TV which other people may find more of a need for.

La Volliere in the Vendee is the most lovely campsite. We were looking for a quiet and small camping and found exactly what we wanted. It has the most wonderful view overlooking the fields, lots of space, big trees, the feeling you’re in the middle of nowhere (but with bakery just 3 min away) very clean sanitation, spacious toilets and showers, good dish washing space. My favourite thing about this campsite: the clear night sky covered with stars, and lots of falling stars too every night. We had bike rides overlooking the sunflower fields. Morning coffee in all quietness, privacy and everything you need very close by.Thank you Pete and Chris!

We ( us and our 18 year old son ) camped for 2 weeks on this lovely campsite and if it wasn't for having to return to work , we would have loved to have stayed longer !The number of pitches is restricted to 6 , which means that there is loads of space for everyone.Rural , very quiet which suits us well . We are keen cyclists so other than for shopping we cycled everywhere to explore the beautiful countryside and the towns and villages.Sadly the village bakery was shut due to them being on holiday themselves , but there was a Ma Baguette machine and the baguettes were good .We visited the local bar / restaurant a few times , mostly for drinks, but did eat here one night and the food ( Italian based menu ) was excellent .The owners Christine and Peter could not have been more welcoming or helpful and this makes this campsite a very special place .Can't wait to go back !

Imagine an English landscape garden in France, a cottage covered in flowers, and a beautiful view of the surrounding fields. We arrived late, pitched our tent in the landscape garden (this turned out to be the campsite) and ate our supper under the full moon throwing shadows on the gras. A warm welcome by very kind and hospitable Chris and Pete. Thank you so much, after a long day on our bikes, 80 km and 800 m uphill climbing, the hot shower was a blessing.
