Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal (BNF)

This place is amazing! A wonderful location for research and studies. Most books are in French.

C'est un lieu mitique avec une histoire militaire derrière.Aujourd'hui on y trouve un endroit très calme et sympathique, une bibliothèque riche de ses fonds avec une équipe accueillante et toujours à votre écoute. Très bon endroit pour travailler en tranquillité.

Not really a tourist attraction as entrance can only be gained by passing an interview and getting a reader’s card (which can only be done at a different location in Paris).However, for those of us fortunate enough to be granted entry, this is a hallowed ground. The Arsenal Library is the repository of France’s national collection of ancient occult books.If you want to view the actual manuscripts, you’ll need to pass an additional interview with the curator (spoiler alert: it’s really hard). However, all of the occult and rare books are also available on microfilm.Warning: brush up on your French before going here because almost nobody speaks English. And make sure you visit the website and follow the rules (no ink pens, only pencils allowed inside!).There are free lockers where you can leave your belongings since you can’t be inside the reading room with any kind of bag.The staff is helpful (hopefully you know at least rudimentary French) and my best advice is to print out the listing for the books you want to view beforehand. You will have to fill out a written request on the spot to gain access to the specific books.Bring a pencil sharpener and a small plastic bag to catch the shavings. It will save you from hunkering down on the floor and sharpening your pencil over the librarian’s trash can like I did.

Une bibliothèque peu connue, peu fréquentée, sélection à l'entrée ... la recette idéale pour se retrouver dans un endroit révé, calme et volupté !

Ambiance calme, intime et acceuillante. Une équipe toujours sourriante et attentive. C´est un endroit idéal pour travailler, presque comme un chez-soi.

You can easily register and use the library to study but there are some annoying things to consider:When you enter, they make you deposit your own bag and put all your stuff in a transparent bag that they give you.You cannot eat anything in the library. You can drink only bottled water. No coffee, no tea, nothing.The chairs are extremely uncomfortable and noisy.It is a small library so you will be sitting very closely to other people.The capacity is less than 100 people.Overall it’s a nice place to visit but definitely not comfortable to study or work.

après m'être fait jeter de la Biblio Francois Mitterand , j'ai couru car le livre que je voulais consulter ne se faisait que dans ces deux bibliothèque , et là bien que n'étant ni littéraire ni philosophe ni rien, j'ai été accueilli normal, le livre n'avait jamais été consulter et les pages n'avait pas toutes été couper, le bibliothécaire me les a coupé.j'ai frémit en lisant mon auteur préféré, j'ai même fait plus ...une bibliothèque impressionnante de par son bâtiment et bien plus encore de par son contenu.journée gravé pour le provinciale ...j'y retournerai quand Paris s'appartiendra de nouveau.

Je pense avoir perdu un étui avec des câbles, un disque dur et une souris. Ceci dans la bibliothèque de l'Arsenal. Que dois-je faire s'il vous plait?Quelqu'un aurait-il pu voir? :(

Excellente bibliothèque de recherche avec fonds spécialisés : fonds Enfantin,.fonds Oulipo, fonds Lambert...Conservatrices et personnel agréables et compétents.Il y plane l'ombre du Saint Simonisme dès le hall avec le buste de Lambert - bey, le tableau à l'étage et le salon auquel on n'accède guère.
