Le Coup de Torchon

Good food and service but crème brûlée was a bit too brûlée (it was burnt).Otherwise, one of the last places in Paris to have a 3 course meal deal for 18€ in 2023. Recommended !

Très bon accueil dans un petit restaurant classique et calme.Plats français très classiques, assez copieux mais de qualité juste correcte.Par contre prix très abordables (menu complet à 16€90 le soir)

Un excellent petit restaurant au prix très abordable dans un quartier hyper touristique. La viande était très tendre, le service rapide et agréable. Seul bémol, l'étroitesse des tables.

Les plats sont réussis mais le service mériterait à être un peu plus rapide.Le lieu est très acceuillant, on a l'impression de manger chez soi.Le vrai atout du restaurant reste les tarifs pratiqués qui sont extrêmement raisonnables avec un menu entrée+plat+dessert à 15.90€ le soir.

Wonderful French meal, with small menu, but they did well! $17 euro for three courses meal, definitely worth it! Love it!

Coup de Torchon is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Paris. Serving traditional french cuisine, you will find local favorites such as boeuf bourguignon (see photo), Coq au Vin, and my all time favorite of Parisian cuisine, Confit du Canard. The cuisine at Coup de Torchon manages to transport me into what I imagine a 15th century french countryside dining experience may be like, with the dishes packing an incredible amount of flavor, love, and humility - but believe me, simple is far from what I would describe this cuisine. The entrees like foie gras (see photo) are served with a bed of vegetables that are perfectly dressed, and perfectly combined to get the papillaes ready for what comes next. The confit canard is crispy on the outside yet packs all the butteriness and flavor you'd come to expect from this classic dish. Just last time, I tried a Cuisse de Poulet (see photo) that was without exaggeration the best chicken I have ever had in my entire life. Cooked with olives and carrots, it reminded me of a chicken tagine I had in Marrakesh years ago - one whose flavor haunted me for years. Notice the sauce upon which the chicken and carrots rest in the attached photo - it was seasoned with several fresh herbs and must have been cooking with the chicken for many many hours to become indescribably rich in aroma and flavor! Simply superb. I unfortunately don't have the vocabulary or writing ability to convey what an incredibly unique and unforgettable dish this was. What I find most surprising about this place is its unassuming, comforting, and familiar atmosphere: at $19 a menu (including entree, main plats, and dessert), I dare anyone to find better value elsewhere in Paris. I joke, as there are other great places offering great menus and exquisite dishes, but frankly after nearly a decade of traveling to this city, I have yet to find a spot I enjoy coming back to as much as I do Coup de Torchon.

We took the menu for 17.90€ (starter + main dish + dessert each au choix among 4 options) and wine for 14€ (375 ml). Everything was good and fresh, especially for this price. The stuff is very friendly and welcoming. A small disadvantage that there was not so much meat in the main dishes. This is a very good place to take your friends and try French cuisine.

Une expérience agréable, chaleureuse et formidable. Un environnement calme, paisible et hypnotisant. L'entrée offre un avant-goût original de la qualité de leur menu. Le repas principal, un boeuf bourguignon pour cette occasion, était hors du commun, un repas incomparable, englouti en moins de cinq minutes, moelleux et juteux, absolument magnifique! Le dessert, pour compléter la soirée, était aussi impeccable. Ceci est un restaurant fantastique fortement recommandé à tous.

Exceptionnel, en entrant nous avons d’abord cru nous être trompés d’adresse tant la salle, le service et l’ambiance étaient au dessus des prix. Le menu complet à 15.90€ pour entrée plat dessert dans une salle pareille rue st Jacques c’est insensé. Je ne peux que regretter de ne pas l’avoir découvert plus tôt. D’autant plus rare que les restaus français à Paris bon abordables sont presque tous morts. Longue vie au coup de torchon.

The restaurant stands out as a highlight. The prices are incredible for a 3 course meal, under 18 euros. The duck was so tender and they served the best creme Brule I've ever had. Service was excellent. Would eat here again in a heartbeat.

Very good food and taste of Paris for a reasonable price! Two course meal for 16 Euro and Three course for 18 Euro. Staff speaks English too. Would definitely recommend!! Crème brulee was delicious.

Incredible all around. I’m astounded to find such a reasonably priced meal in Paris! The onion soup was great, and so was the crème brûlée. The duck stood out as exceptional, and was prepared perfectly. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The atmosphere is also quite intimate and relaxing. I will be returning here when I come back to Paris!
