Manoir La Croix de La Jugie

This is a fabulous old farmhouse full of character and in a very peaceful location. Ideal for large groups it offers lots of space for people to be on there own as well as a choice of areas inside and out for all to come together. The swimming pool is an added bonus.

We spent Christmas 2022 at the Manoir with family and friends and everyone loved it: the Manoir and its grounds are charming and beautiful, deep in the heart of the hilly French countryside. Inside it's full of charm, very spacious, comfy and cosy. It doesn't feel like a rental, it feels like you're staying at a friend's house.There was everything we needed, as well as nice extras like games for the children, a pool table, etc. Lovely fireplace in the living-room as well as in the kitchen. Bathrooms for each bedroom.Communication with Clio and her wonderful and helpful housekeepers, Pamela and Julian, was easy and very friendly. A big thanks to you for your warm welcome :-)We unreservedly recommend the Jugie Manoir for a long weekend or a holiday away from it all!

I stayed for a gardening retreat and had a wonderful week. Felt really looked after by Clio and Adele.The house was very charming, with lots of cosy corners but spacious.Would recommend to anyone who loves gardening and needs a week to forget everyday worries at home. I felt rested but also inspired by Adele's wonderful classes.

We had a wonderful family holiday at the Manoir. There was so much space, indoors and out, and everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Every room was lovely, and adults and children alike enjoyed the pool and beautiful grounds. Thank you!

A lovely stay that was simultaneously inspiring and relaxing.My partner and thoroughly enjoyed our gardening focused break at La Jugie (a new experience for me). Adeles encouragement and enthusiasm gave me so much confidence, both within the week, but also techniques, suggestions and inspiration for my (allotment) patch back home in Sussex.We stayed in the Rose Room which was beautifully decorated (the free standing bath was gorgeous) and struck the perfect balance of cosy and luxurious. With soft towels, and local toiletries we definitely had everything we needed.The food was always well prepared, thoughtfully presented, and portion sizes spot on. The lunches of warming soups, cheeses (thank you for introducing me to St Felicien!), and a choice of salads were a particular highlight for me. As a vegetarian I never like I was a nuisance (or missing out).Whilst we were there as a couple on a retreat the house is also perfectly set up for a large group - family, friends…with children catered for with cots, high chairs etc.It’s a lovely peaceful location, but with interesting towns just a short drive away. We particularly enjoyed Limoges which was a vibrant student town but with enough quirky interiors shops to keep us occupied. Well worth a walk to the local bar too - so friendly and welcoming.

We absolutely loved our stay at Clio's place. The house is stunning and so comfortable for a family holiday.We loved the time in the pool, the barbecues, the walks to the village,... and our kids had a blast playing in the huge gardens and discovering all the toys in the house.And, although we wouldn't have needed to leave the house, the surroundings are gorgeous and Clio gave us so many good recommendations to discover the area, we made the best of our time visiting castles, swimming in the lakes, and trying French delicacies. Also Pamela and Julian, who look after the house, were really lovely and helpful.Without doubt we would recommend this place to anyone and we would absolutely love to go back. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

My wife and I spent a wonderful week at Manoir La Croix de La Jugie, on a Greenfingers retreat hosted by Clio, with her gardening expert Adele. We were in need of basic education on all aspects of maintaining a garden. The course provided 6 days of tuition with hands-on practical learning opportunities, geared to whatever level you are at. Adele is a very experienced gardener and also a natural teacher and can accommodate all levels. With the other 2 “student” guests, we took away a lot of invaluable knowledge and insight.The accommodation was wonderful - a beautiful and well appointed farmhouse in rural France. Clio is expert at making all guests feel well at home. We loved the dining and traditional French food, expertly prepared by Clio. It was also great socially - that feeling of a ski holiday where people sit regularly around the table and share thoughts and stories over a glass of wine. The other guests were lovely.We would certainly return!
