Domaine du Grand Caugy

Bad experience. We drove there from Lourdes, we planned to arrive there for their 5-7pm check in time but we got stuck in traffic due to a big accident and then the weather was terrible. The person who booked the hotel on booking.com couldn’t logon so we found their email address and Facebook page and sent them messages on both to tell them our eta. When we got there it was pitch black and no lights on, we eventually found the proprietors, the man said we were too late for check it (it was 9:30pm), we apologised and explained we had emailed them and sent them a msg via facebook. He was not happy and said we should only communicate via booking.com, we were unaware of this “rule”. After a lot of tutting he showed us to our 2 rooms. The rooms were bare and scarcely furnished. The toiletries consisted of 2 tiny bottles of shower gel. The floors of the rooms were dirty and could have done with a good mop and hoover. The headboard of the bed was covered in hair. The showers needed a good regrout as they were all mouldy and there was loads of soap/cleaning liquid scum on the shower floor. There was a kitchen area that serviced both rooms, there was a selection of tea but no coffee or milk. Well there was a bottle of milk in the fridge which had a best before date of September 2023 (we were there 25-26/10). We paid a lot of money to stay there but received no hospitality and the rooms were freezing. Would not recommend this place at all, the marketing photos are not to be trusted

Nous avons eu la chance d'y organiser notre mariage et c'était vraiment très bien. Les hôtes sont très sympa, arrangeants et toujours disponibles. Le lieu est magnifique, nous n'avons eu que des compliments de nos invités. Les chambres sont très bien, notre famille proche à pu être logée le soir du mariage. Et nous avons eu un très bon petit déjeuner le lendemain. En résumé un excellent week-end dans ce domaine !

C'est magnifique .! Très belle propriété. En plus on est bien reçu.Les nouveaux propriétaires sont accueillants et sympa.A recommander.

This is a wonderful place to stay, set in open countryside but within easy reach of Bayeux.The young couple are most welcoming & attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed.The breakfast was excellent, with a good selection - we especially enjoyed the freshly boiled eggs!Our room facing the fields was excellent, with a super modern bathroom. Tea/coffee facilities actually in our room would have been of benefit to us - this facility was on the corridor outside, not quite so convenient.We found the inner courtyard a peaceful place to relax after a busy day, taking advantage of thecushioned garden furniture set out there.We were very happy that we found this place & would highly recommend it. Should we return to this area we would definitely pre book.

A beautiful hotel. The owners are generous and friendly. The place is surrounded by pastoral green fields. Highly recommended.

Très beau domaine, l'accueil à été parfait, nos hôtes ont été très sympathiques et très attentionnés. La chambre, au calme, confortable avec vue très agréable sur la campagne nous a parfaitement convenu. Petit déjeuner copieux et varié avec des produits locaux. Bref, nous recommandons ce lieu sans hésitations

Magnifique propriété, chambre confortable et les nouveaux propriétaires sont accueillants et disponibles. Nous y avons passés un très bon weekend et nous y retournerons....

C'est un très beau lieu , les salles sont magnifiques, les chambres aussi.Par contre j'ai trouvé la cuisine minimaliste.... des choses à revoir du style un lave vaisselles ( il me semble ne pas en avoir vu ) un chariot pour servir et desservir serai un plus, ainsi qu'un micro onde pour réchauffer les biberons serait le bienvenu

Très beau domaine et très belle infrastructures, les tenanciers sont très serviable. De très belles chambres et lieux très calme lors de notre séjour, il y à des parkings gratuits a disposition. Lieux très verdoyant entouré de prairie pour les chevaux. Il est cependant impossible de si rendre si vous êtes pas véhiculé.

Lieu de réception. J'y suis allé pour un mariage. La salle est grande 120 personnes assises à peu près,cuisine attenante et sanitaires. Il y a des chambres mais je ne les ai pas vues.L'espace extérieur est conséquent et le parkings peut accueillir suffisamment de véhicules. C'est un ancien monastère.

The owners were wonderful! They made our stay extremely comfortable. They addressed our needs and worked hard to provide us information and events about the D-Day events from 4 - 7 June. They even helped me find cell phone stores for me to fix my shattered cell phone. Being located in the countryside provided for a deep peaceful sleep during the nights and an enjoyable peace with nature during our days. This has enough room for weddings or other events that require a lot of space. We drove our personal vehicle from the U.K. and was able to drive into the town of Bayeux to take advantage of the nightlife and historical places. The only thing that I would give a Iow rating would be the WiFi. It was not a strong signal no matter where you were on the property. However, despite that, I definitely recommend this location for your next stay in Normandy.
