Monument commémoratif au roi Alexandre Ier de Yougoslavie et à Louis Barthou

Beautiful monument, a piece of art, as it should be considering the reason for its existence. There should also be some kind of an info plaque, so that tourists could understand why that monument is there.

J'ai découvert ce monument en me promenant et du coup j'ai aussi découvert une partie de l'histoire que je ne connaissais pas.

Марсельское убийство (также Марсельский регицид, заговор (операция) «Тевтонский меч») — политическое убийство, осуществлённое 9 октября 1934 года в Марселе болгарским террористом Владо Черноземским. Главными жертвами убийства стали король Югославии Александр I Карагеоргиевич и министр иностранных дел Франции Луи Барту. Кроме того, Черноземский смертельно ранил ещё четырёх человек.Инцидент стал одним из самых громких убийств XX века. Согласно основной и наиболее распространённой версии, инициатором покушения стала болгарская националистическая организация ВМОРО, поддерживаемая властями нацистской Германии и её странами-союзницами, а также хорватскими усташами.

Hermoso monumento, Marsella (Francia) de mucho de sí a cada rincón. #PAX

This monume t reminds of a tragic moment in the history of one city and one nation, (Marseille and Yugoslavia). It is not in perfect condition. Nowhere on the monument is written King of Yugoslavia, just King Alexander I. Could be anybody. There was a box of pizza on it and strong smell of urine.

Plutôt sympathique

Missing any note about Serbia there on this monument. I got impression that Yugoslavia was made by Croatia and Slovenia and not by Serbia and Montenegro. Seems that Autor of monument deliberately did this. A shame for a Serbian-French friendship.
