Jolivet Dominique Ernest Henri

This church was built by Gabriel de Montgomery, comte de Lorges (1530-1573), a French nobleman and Captain of the Scots Guards of Henry II king of France. He mortally wounded the king in a friendly joust, and although forgiven by the king later lost his life in a sentence by the Queen Catherine de Medici. Gabriel's father purchased the lands back into Montgomery family as they originally belonged to Roger de Montgomery a French noblman. These lands encompassed Saint Foy de Montgomery and and Saint Germaine de Montgomery, Rogers son, Roger II (1022-1094), became one of the greatest magnates in England during the time of William the Conqurer.This church has a stained glass window purported to represent Gabriel and his wife Isabeau de la Touche.
