Très beau monument

This stunning ruin is what remains of the Porte Dauphine gate. It's a beautiful setting in a well maintained garden, clipped hedges and manicured lawns. When I was here it was raining and cold but this monument gives you a moment to pause. Its actually has two sections with the railway line running between the two monuments with Gare de la Porte Dauphine Station at the bottom from this park. I can imagine this spot being widely used during the warmer months as there are benches and picnic benches dotted along the place. A charming place to explore by all ages.

Pour le monument, porte emblématique de la ville de La Rochelle et … pour la Halte ferroviaire « La Rochelle Porte Dauphine » à proximité !Le bon plan quand je viens sur La Rochelle depuis Châtelaillon ! A 20 minutes à pied du quai Duperré (vieux port) par le quartier du Marché, via la rue Mercier (arcades et maisons à colombages), la rue Chaudrier et/ou les rues adjacentes (nombreux hôtels particuliers édifiés par les -riches- armateurs rochelais ) !
