Aperture Photo Tours

Had a spectacular week with Aperture Tours seeing the best of Paris, the Loire Valley and Normandy! The instructors were exceptionally knowledgeable about the locations. Their expertise on things like navigating the weather, angle of lighting, tides and overall region geography were so important to then get an excellent photo. The planning of the trip was meticulous to put us at the right location with the right lighting at the right time. It was extremely valuable to have the personal attention, despite photographing for many years I came away with a better understanding of my camera and technique.The itinerary had a great variety of intimate experiences with locals, food options, and subjects/locations to shoot at. Certainly hit the highlights you’d expect but had some surprises that were off the beaten path that you may not seek out yourself. I personally appreciated their knowledge of the history of the areas we were seeing as well. I normally shy away from the idea of a group planned tour because I find them constraining but our guides really put together such a great itinerary - there were no “weak” days and they were extremely flexible to accommodate my requests to venture away from the group for some extra time or to take in an extra sight. I would highly recommend Aperture tours to anyone who both enjoys travel and photography- they were masterful at combining the two. We have great photos and memories coming away from the trip. I am very grateful for the experience and my time with them, I’ll definitely be back for another trip!

I was delighted with my experience with Clara of Aperture Tours in Paris. Clara was supportive, knowledgeable, and perceptive, and excellent at understanding where I was at with my street photography. She gave me very useful practical advice about cameras but also thought-provoking perspectives on the process of photography. Overall the photo tour was stimulating and productive and I would definitely recommend Aperture Tours and Clara to others.

Clara has huge fans in NYC!! When I found out Clara was going to be our guide, I read some of her publications and was excited to learn from this pro because she likes to travel off the beaten path and has a sharp eye for the authentic side of Paris.When we met her she got to know about our goals and interests. We shared that we really wanted to learn all the technical things and she not only made things easy to grasp, she made them fun. Clara is kind and patient. Just the best!! We learned about photography, Parisian culture & history and so much more.My only regret was booking on our last day in Paris. I would’ve definitely booked additional workshops with her.She even told us about the cool Normandy trip/tour. Adding that to the bucket list.Thanks Clara!!

I am a hobbyist photographer and have never claimed otherwise. That said, I love capturing the perfect shot as much as anyone else. I stumbled over Aperture Tours while looking for a photography-based tour during my time in Paris. I spoke with Alexander via chat regarding a few questions, and booked the six-hour afternoon/night tour. It was worth every penny (or Euro).I had the pleasure of working with Clara, who is absolutely delightful. I've struggled with applying the academic knowledge regarding aperture/f-stops, exposure/shutter speed, ISO, etc. to actual field work. I'm a hands-on learner and needed to put it into practice as the terms were being discussed. Clara worked with me to gain a better understanding of how to use the manual functions of my camera so I have less work to do in post–to take the photo and not create it after the fact. I continued to do so throughout the remainder of my vacation, including a trip into the Arctic Circle to view the northern lights, and was successful. This tour will cost more than other options, but aside from visiting locations of interest to photograph, you get one-on-one instruction from a professional photographer to improve your own skill set. As stated above, it's worth the price and I will utilize them again in the future if I travel to an area where Aperture Tours is staffed.

We enjoy a Paris at Night photo tour guided by the gracious and knowledgeable Clara Abi Nader. Clara took us to wonderful locations for memorable compositions and lighting and was excellent at determining my skill level and offering the occasional suggestions to optimize my results. A great night and I'll now have wonderful images to keep and enjoy forever.

Fantastic experience! Spent an afternoon in Paris with Clara for this photography session. She was amazing, super knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. She provided great information and insight on how she approaches composition as well as the technical components of the camera. Exactly what I hoped for, highly recommend!

Clara was an amazing guide. She tailored the tour to be exactly what i was looking for (street photography). She was so fun to talk to, showed me amazing sights and opportunities for photos that I would have missed otherwise. A must do in Paris.

We had a phenomenal tour with Clara. She met us at the metro stop, sat down with us in a coffee shop to review our cameras and what was important to us, and then we set off around the city. I truly feel that I connected with Paris in the most native way through her guidance and personality. I could not have asked for a better experience and have beautiful photos to show for it. I have booked 3 tours in Paris, Barcelona, and Venice and a 7-day workshop in the Loire Valley and Normandy France this past April with Aperture Tours and I have never been disappointed. The Loire Valley and Normandy Workshop was one of the most incredible travel experiences I have ever had. Each time the instructors have been friendly and most importantly knowledgeable about not only photo techniques but also my camera and the area I am visiting. A tour with Aperture Tours is a definite must do in any city they offer tours. I can't wait until my trip to Rome and my next tour in September.
