Pegues Cheryl

Cheryl Pegues - Specialized English Instructor - ESAM School of Advanced Management and Finance | LinkedIn | Couture, cuisine and fashion form the initial threads linking past, present and future of longtime Paris resident Cheryl Pegues. She first began teaching in Evening Programs at SCC College in Seatle, her birthplace. Her career in Paris began as chef-cuisinière at a number of city restaurants, and where a love of textiles and color eventually led to fashion studies and a certificate in “moulage sur mannequin” in 1995 from the prestigious Ecole Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. After establishing an atelier in Bagneux, France, Cheryl designed costumes for musicals and theatre. She taught and lectured in France and the U.S. with the American Sewer’s Guild, San Francisco’s Sewing Workshop, the SCCC Apparel Design Program, and various private workshops for U.S. schools and fashion tourists. She eventually created her own line of fashion accessories and insists on selling her own creations at trunk shows and holiday boutiques, where she can meet and interact with others, guiding and encouraging her customers toward their own individual fashion statement.

Fashion steered Cheryl into recruitment by an exclusive program teaching specialized English to members of AFDAS, a national union for performers, writers, producers and technicians in the French entertainment industry. Five years of two-week workshops provided her with a unique window on the mechanisms governing communication in French and English, and an outstanding opportunity to increasingly center language training on perception and confidence-building, rather than content.
